If thats to far away there is a bunch of new stuff on the way based on 32nm process.

Intel have sandy bridge coming and AMD have Bulldozer.

I think I'm more excited about the 32nm chips for now. Really low power consumption combined with proven chip designs.
It's got to the stage where CPU's are already more powerful than any PC game or app demands anyhow so really the need for speed is secondary these days.

I wont be going for Sandy Bridge after this rig i dont think, i can't see software moving quick enough to make me need it by then. Will most likely be an interim 6 core upgrade if the price is right 2 years down the line or i'll look into Intel's Haswell chip if its not delayed.
And it will probably be called something like smublebug or something equally as stupid!
