This question is mainly aimed at the bigger developers like E.A and Konami who release games on multiple platforms.

In the past, if a game is being released on PS2/360/PC, the PC will simply get a slightly tweaked port of the PS2 version. This has been especially true of the EA sports and Konami PES series.

I wondered if anyone knows what the upcoming PC versions of the above games will be like.

Are PC gamers still going to get lazy PS2 ports for years to come?

Recently a lot of the ports have been from 360, such as Lost planet, transformers and spiderman, i know there are more too but i can't think of them at the moment

i was about to say, pes2008(thats its name, not 7!) will probably be a porn from the 360 version, i hope theyv made a go of it this time. I didnt like the 360 version compared to the ps2 one. The pc version was ofcourse the best, being the ps2's engine but with better graphics.
Looking forward to new one if its hand in hand with 360 one, with the new AI system(lets hope its actualyl remotely decent) and sparkly graphics it will go down a storm plugged into my parents tv =)
Not sure if someone mentioned it above but Gears of War is out soon i think, and its using a more powerful engine, as theyv admitted our PCs>xbox360s :)

Depends on who is doing the porting. If they are simply in it for the money, its going to be an awful port and you'l wish they never ported it. Can't say there are any games on consoles that i want to play...apart from Carole Shimas Brain Training? :p

The only next gen port I'm interested in is Gears of War. There will be the usual release of fifa and pes soon but they never really change that much, especially fifa, well not enough changes to warrant spending £30 on the latest versions. Personally I'm more interested in next gen PC games that are designed for PC and not console ports.

pretty sure I've read that FIFA 08 will not be "next gen" on the pc as EA probably feel they would be restricting their market too much. Don't know about the hockey, basketball stuff but presume they will be the same.

I don't think Gears is so much a port tbh, Cliffy B said that the versions are so different from each other making the extra content available on the 360 would take quite some time.

Won't be a crap port at least though, also it was running super smooth at E3@1920x1080.

Not sure if you'd call them ports but the PCs supposed to be getting 360/PS3 stuff like Stranglehold, Assassin's Creed and Devil May Cry 4. GRAW is another one that's been released after being on console for a while. They're all games I'm looking forward to but I can't help but think that Mark Rein might be right about consoles holding back PC games... link

luckily the 360 is somewhat similar to a pc, and they are using unreal engine it on, which means its perfect for pc ports :D

Think pro evo 2008 id going to be a ps3 port as all others were ps2 ports.
theyv already got an engine on the 360 though, so its more likely be be ported from that to PC.
The ps2 will just be evo6 with updated rosters etc.
I seriously doubt the PS3 will be the main platform for pes08, therefore i think it will receive a port of the 360 version.

Just because the company's previous console had the game designed for it, and then ported to the others doesnt mean itll be the same with its newest console.
Wouldnt it be a bit more logical to say the other got the ps2 port because the ps2 was the most established console, throughout the generation.

PS3 is far from that right now to be honest, its a lot a very different programming concept, making the 360 much more attractive..

Dont interprit this as a 360>PS3 rant, because i dont really think that - its just 360 has a bigger userbase, by far at the moment. And it would be easier porting to the PC from it. The ps3 could run a bad port designed solely for a 360 according to all the fan boys anyway.. cell+rsx>all remember :)
