I'm guessing it will be when the 1080ti is released, anyone know when that should be?
I see the 980ti prices falling to clear stock, I'm guessing they will drop a bit further yet, might grab one of those if they drop much more.
But they are still too close to 1070 prices for me, as I would prefer the 1070, just not the price lol

Barring the odd deal here and there they'll be at that price for a while. I can only see the 1080ti being put in the middle of the 1080 & Titan XP, no shuffling prices around.

Cheapest 1070 on OverclockersUK is £359 which is already down a lot from launch. Unless the £ gets a lot stronger against the $ I'm not sure it will drop much more for a while even when the 1080ti (if this exists) comes out. Could be wrong though but would guess at early next year earliest.

Now that the initial early adopter premium is mostly out of the way it might not drop at all for at least a year and may even rise due to currency fluctuations. Thats what happened with the 970.

Or it could drop at any time, almost impossible to say.

Oh right, I thought that might be the case. Will have to see how low the 980ti prices go then.

Vega will hit it slightly maybe but no that much if at all, depends how good it is.

I suspect AMD will just put out a card that fits into the price/perf stack correctly and nothing will move. Hopefully I'm wrong though.

There is no competition at the top end from AMD so they can charge what they want.

When AMD release a card that can compete, at a lower price, then Nvidia will drop the price to compensate. Until then we're all over a barrel.

There seams no reason for a price to drop. It's positioned in their price/performance tiering correctly with no competition.

I expect the price will only reduce slightly after they have released the next generation of Nvidia card.

I think maybe a tenner or so, just to keep people buying the 1070s over the 980Ti... But they don't need to reduce them. They'll stay like that for a while.

Oh I'll tell you when they'll drop... when the 1170 releases and the 1070s need to be reduced in price to clear stock. Only then will they be the price they should be should have always been... sub-£300. I'm glad my 970 does great at 1080p60 for now, even compared to the current gen competition.

Not sure what the lead times are for currency fluctuations on this type of stuff - traditional high street retailers often have deals in place for many months ahead - but with sterling significantly devalued compared to two months ago, that could temper any price cuts.

I don't think we will see price drops unless sterling recovers significantly.

Small gains will be pocketed by retailers at least in the short term.

I'm sticking with my 970 until I can't play games properly.
