When will youtube do 60fps?

I was kinda making a general call...but the point still stands, 60fps will be a bigger file and youtube still want to be able to stream to as many people as possible. Larger resolutions are easier to sell to people than faster framerates, especially when netbooks etc. already struggle with HD footage at 30 fps.

Uncapped fps is needed for video game footage. It will happen in time but youtube is unlikely to be the innovator unless they deem video games to be their new money maker.

Time to revive?

So YouTube announced 60FPS videos....

Since the announcement I've been pushing 60 fps @ 1080p video up the pipe to them and I've still to see any one of them play at the 60 fps rate.

So where or how do I find out when the feature is going to be enabled in the UK? has anyone else put any 60fps stuff up?

I think right now it's been tested by selected Youtube channels. I've also seen other post workarounds in order to get 60FPS, I've not tested it myself so not sure if it really is 60fps or not..

I've done a work around video but it pretty much doubles encoding time :( I was hoping that someone would have an insider ear to how the roll out was going. As of now I can only assume that my You Tube Channel has not got the 60fps privilege yet.

Hi I've already been checking these videos out but thanks for thinking of it.

One question about the videos they have hosted and boasted about the 60fps, they look quite clean and the action is clear but those samples when grabbed for the purpose of 60fps study don't actually come down ass 60fps but 30fps, O.o anyone care to comment on that phenomena ;)

Hi,

Thanks for the feedback, using cc.cc I grabbed the 1080p 60fps TitanFall and literally got my socks blew off at the ferociousness of the 60 fps playback via VLC media player. Which leaves me now in a quandary. I've Opera, Torch, Firefox and Chrome and none play these videos at 60fps via YouTube what's up with that? any feed back appreciated.

Strange. They all play fine for me at the correct frame rate. I'm using the latest version of Chrome (stable).

Is your browser using the HTML5 player?
