How long do you keep the boxes for?

Been about 6 months since i built my system and apart from all the extra cables and bits ive just chucked all the boxes away, well apart from GPU and Mobo Boxes, is this too soon do you reckon?

Depends if i have room, if i have ill generally keep them until the warrenty is up then throw the box (2 years generally)

Having said that I kept a a939 mobo for 4 years brand new wihtout opening it before giving it away for free lol

depends on the size and usefull ness, but i have boxes from a few years ago sitting in my room, not all of them are storing computer bits, but depends on if the space is worth it realy.

until it's up and running. Just in case any are dead on arrival or not fit for purpose for some reason. After that they are useless, if it needs to be RTMd any cardboard box and plenty of bubble wrap.

I think it makes sense to keep the boxes until the warranties have expired, esp. for mobo's and cpu's.

Could you imagine for example RMA'ing a mobo or cpu in nothing but a jiffy bag and receiving the replacement in the same packaging? Of course not, they'll send it in full retail packaging to minimize chances of damage.

Takes far to much space up for no point (apart from retail value if you do that sort of thing). Especially when you start including all your electronic stuff up. Nothing wrong in sending components in static bags, a few inches of bubble wrap then a box. All easily obtained and just as unlikely to be damaged than a retail box.

I have had my Abit AV8 mobo box for 6 years now I think. All the other boxes I have thrown away.

I keep retail boxes for resale purposes. I don't tend to keep a piece of hardware for longer than several months excepting things like my PSU.
