Hey, i need advice please. when you use your display port for video, how do you manage the sound?

I have my PC connected to my AW34 via display port. I now need sound. I have a USB DAC/AMp for headphones but I'd like to connect some speakers.

I have a passive pair of speakers I can get. however what do i run from my PC to my receiver to get this all working? usually I'd use HDMI but I'm assuming as I'm using the display port for the video, it will cause issues and result in my PC thinking im using two monitors when I'm not.

Any solutions please?

What do I need to look for in an amp to make sure this can work?

As above, you can select the port from the GPU you want to set as audio. Can be different from your monitor. Have had a separate AV receiver for years and has worked fine having a different cable going to monitor.

With that said, it will treat the second device you dedicate to audio as a second monitor (Phantom monitor will represent it in windows and NV control panel) but does not affect anything.

If it sees it as a monitor, would you ever get the problem of windows or applications opening on the "2nd screen" and not visible?

It’s happened about 4-5 times in the years I have used it so not a big issue, and can not recall it happening in the last year. Was an odd quirk, not ever repeatable and usually meant just alternating the primary monitor for a few seconds or having to virtually drag the screen across.
