Me and my mates want to go Scotland. We've never been before so we want to go soon. We want to
Climb Hills
Jump of high hills into cold waters (James Blunt style :p without the singing :p)
Wanna just relaxe

Any activities you can recommend? Furthermore when's the best time to go?

Ideally we want to move all around Scotland and not just stay in the city centre :)

Thanks

July/August time, when the sun shines for at least 20mins a day & it rains slightly less during those two months :p

Summer time, ofcourse would be best, lovely scenery, lovely cold water to jump into.

Also August 6th to 26th is Edinburgh Festival for when your bored walking up hills and jumping into water :p Plenty of relaxing to be done during those few weeks.

You obviously like midges. :)

Depends where you're going. Cities should be fine as suggested, but avoiding May to September-ish would be better if you're going into the highlands and don't like midges. :)

Go to the Loch Tay area. Lots to see, Munros to climb, white water rafting, boating and canoeing. I even know an excellent B&B (my friends run it) ;) Loads of good drives too if you are taking the car. Careful if you are going hill/mountain walking/climbing that you don't do it too early in the year. There will be snow on them there hills for a good while yet!

When it's not Scotland.

:/

Best time is between now and May before it gets warm enough for midges which to be honest isnt that warm. Its also peeing with rain at the moment and probably will be until the end of April.
The water will be freezing so i wouldn't suggest jumping in it, most stretches of water on Scotland aren't a good idea to jump into without checking them out first many have steep drop offs and under currents.
It's also been snowing up north which if you've seen the news is quite bad. Just be careful but have a great time it's a beautiful place.

The roads are a lot better here now. Tomintoul and the lecht area had a few roads closed at the weekend but it should all be back to normal by the weekend (if not already). Snowboarding / Skiiing conditions were good.

-10c isn't uncommon up in hoochter choochter land (them ther hills) at this time of year. So make sure you wrap up warm. There are always casualties on the hills so be prepared...dib dib. :)

My grilfriend and I went a couple of Novembers ago, it was great. The zoo was a little quiet though

Thats because we tend to let some of the animals out in winter for good behavior :)

The skiing\boarding is pretty nice atm, just had 4 days solid and im knackered :) As long as it doesnt get too warm and rain it should last a couple weeks more.

Glencoe and all the west coast around there is great if you like a bit of camping, climing and sailing

geez i have good and bad memories of scotland..

iv been there with the John muirs trust, its a type of conservation trip.
lots of walking and exploring. i may go on another one this exam season this one will be about learning to survive in the wild and learn natural herbal remedies and **** like that.

anyway last time i went with them it was camping at the hardest bay to get to in england. " sandwood bay" its called.
it was really fun until the gailforce winds came. even my experdition tent was flat on me so that i cant litteraly breaths. My mates fought the tent back, they practically saved my life.
The winds were recording a peak of 60 mph at times and we would wake up many times over night. Going outside was really scary, the clouds were wizzing past and it looked like a scene from LOTR.

anyway apart from that some good weathers a little time for fishing, it was excellent! :D
and i will def go again

its better to say when not to go,
not at the weekends or any days in the week

or if you must go familiarise yourself with the loveable 'scottish stereotypes'
anyone care to elaborate

ill start
staggering, incoherent, drunk clutching a can of tennants super (or mckewans)

wisened old hag, smoking a pipe, with a tweed shawl, humming of the last catch of the day
