Whereas I cannot wait for a new console. Do we really need one? Playing all the games recently like Deus Ex, Crysis 2, Battlefield 3 - the graphics and gameplay really are up there!

But obviously new consoles and tech are exciting!

I think we really need a new console the sooner rather than later

The market has gone a bit stale its in decline we need something new to get
excited about and im not talking about the wii U lol .

Yes we do, they are so far behind even a mid range PC it's laughable.

Some games look really bad with their sub 720p resolution, have been trying to play Resistance 3 but it looks HORRIFIC!

Also, I don't remember the console forum ever being this quiet.

Up there with what? BF3 on the consoles looked terrible, performance was terrible and the PS3 version specifically was a buggy mess for months.

Also have to disagree with you Bengaboy, even though console games are better optimised, their graphics are still way behind those of a half decent PC game at full settings. Since getting a GTX 670 and starting gaming at a higher res on a bigger monitor, I've been amazed at how good some PC games can look.

The trouble is if console games are still selling well, what reason do Microsoft and Sony have for rushing the release of the next-gen machines? It's only once they start to tail off that they need to worry, and with things like Halo 4, Black Ops 2, and Assassin's Creed 3 coming out soon, there's no reason to see that happening.

CPU, GPU, RAM. All are out of date. Remember the PS3 is 6 years old now, back when a high end PC was a 2.5GHz dual core with just a couple of gig of ram, if that.
