Hey guys, me again

As some of you know over the past few days Ive had major problems building my new rig, from cmos jumpers in the wrong place to random restarts and buzzing power supplies.

Its actually the last thing that I mentioned there thats really ticking me off, I bought my power supply from a competitor (that shall remain nameless) I will just say it rhymes with *thinly disguised competitor*. The said power supply under too much pressure started to buzz, now some people on here have the same one (and setup) as me and they have had no problems, so I figured 'well maybe I just got the bad egg' and I sent it back in pristine condition, wrappings, cable-ties and all. I had a letter off them tonight saying I was rejected (basically I still get a refund but they charge me for the testing). Its absolute bull!

You can test a faulty gfx card or faulty ram, you put it in and BAM its obvious it aint working. But theres like 40,000 different set-ups for a power supply and another 50,00 combinations of different things need different power, they couldnt have used it to the extent I used it or used the exact setup Im using now. So where do I stand with this.

hmmmm

Sorry Jokester, Im a mellow chap really. Just extremely peeved, hell I didnt really say the name so you wouldnt get in trouble, maybe some folk will learn from it and not spend their hard earned cash there.

I paid 100 quid, and I sent it back the day after I recieved it.

Explain please. Did they state the unit was faulty? How long has it been since you purchased the item? And what is the cost of testing?

Will get back to you when you answer the above. :)

Rejected means they found no fault, despite me buying my new PSU from OcuK and never having the problem since. When I sent it back it had been 1 day. Unsure around 20 quid.

Oh right, I see.

Well if a PSU buzzes under load, I suspect it would do that in any setup.

This company is alleging that the PSU is not faulty, yet still offer you a refund? They seem to be contradicting themselves. They have impliedly acknowledged that it is faulty by offering you a refund (otherwise they would have sent the PSU back to you - that's what rejecting means), so they should not be charging you a testing fee. Clearly the PSU is faulty if it is making buzzing sounds under load, albeit a minor defect. Furthermore, the PSU is clearly not of satisfactory quality, as required by law under s.14(2) of the Sale of Goods Act 1979.

Get in touch with Consumer Direct, who will give you free advice about what to do from here onwards. They will probably refer your case to Trading Standards as you do seem to have a valid claim.

Consumer Direct will first tell you to write/email the company a complaint letter. Assert that you are entitled to your full money back because the goods were faulty & of unsatisfactory quality, and therefore a testing fee cannot be charged. Despite rejecting your claim, the company has impliedly acknowledged the fault by offering you a refund. Mention that you have been in touch with Consumer Direct, who are referring your case to Trading Standards if the matter is not resolved within 7 days (time is of the essence). Please keep a copy of this letter. Send this letter asap.

For tips on writing the email, read this:

Alternatively, your credit card company may be liable for any claim you have against the trader (assuming that is how you paid). Here is some general information for you to read if you have bought on credit: http://www.consumerdirect.gov.uk/your-rights/fs_c02.shtml.

Hope that helps. :)

Ok update I phone them today and they stated that it was tested and not faulty (on their system) and there were some small scratches on it (probably from fitting) they said it was rejected, the woman also said that I wont get anything! ANYTHING! so Ive sent it back and I dont get anything? not even a partial refund or credit! this can't be right, I paid for it and they have it back.

Seriously what the hell guys
