Where are all the 16:10 Gaming Monitors?

Hi all.

I've decided to get a 2nd monitor for my setup, the first being a 24" 1920x1200 Benq FP241w, which has served me well for many moons.

I'd like to get a 'gaming' monitor, so was looking at 144hz 1080p, as i'm currently using a r9 390 AMD card that I think would struggle a bit too much at 1440p. However, I can't seem to find any current 144 hz 1920x1200 monitors. They're all 1920x1080 which I think wouldn't look right next to my current monitor.

I really like the look of the Samsung LC24FG73, but i'd hate to buy it and always notice the difference in resolutions between the monitors. As a test I put my current monitor down to 1920x1080 and it just resulted in horrendous black bars at the top and bottom of the screen.

As a work around, would going for a 24" 1440p 144hz screen and then just keeping it at 1920x1200 do the trick? Or does anyone know of any discontinued panels I could buy second hand that would fit my criteria?

16x10 screens still exist but there are no gaming panels among them. I gave up looking for one. The Dell u2415 is one of the most recent along with the Eizo cs2420 and nec pa243.

You could go 27” 2560x1440 as it’s pretty similar in overall working height and just feels a tad wider. This is a Samsung C27HG70 next to my old dell U2408WFP. Ignoring the fact the dell now feels very laggy and like a slideshow due to the refresh rate difference, it feels pretty similar in use.

Thanks for the input guys, I did go for the Samsung LC24FG73, but after seeing it next to my current monitor, I couldn't get over the fact it was newer but still smaller. So returned to amazon and I got the C27HG70 as above, but it arrived clearly having been a return itself (Stand etc wasn't in packaging, and the screen had finger smudges + water marks on it) so i've also returned /that/ one, and am now waiting on a (hopefully!) new never opened one.

Also Kei, I like the keyboard! I just got the TKL version, loving it.

I was using a 16:10 until last week. It was TN and very fast response. GF has it now, was an upgrade for her. It was not a patch on todays 144hz gaming screens though.

C27HG70 arrived and setup, absolutely loving it. 144hz is an insane difference coming from only knowing 60hz. I would say that seeing the LC24FG73 (16:9) next to my old 24" (16:10) monitor it was very noticeable the difference in aspect ratios, but I think that was mainly due to the physical size of the screen being smaller, despite them both being 24" screens, although my old screen does have quite the large bezels.

For anyone looking at this thread, I would say that unless you already have a 16:10 screen of the same size as the 16:9 screen you plan on buying, that you wont notice anything or have a problem. My new 27" 16:9 looks great next to my old 24" 16:10. I was specifically after a 'gaming' monitor though, and there are plenty 16:10 screens out there should you want the extra screen real estate.

But seriously, if anyone is in any doubt if a 144hz screen is worth it, my answer is YES! Just general use you can tell the difference, but especially in FPS games such as Counterstrike: Global offensive it really is night and day.
