Where are the 1440p laptops?

Maybe still early days, but I was looking through the CES laptop news so far and everyone keeps going on about 1080p 144hz(+) or 4K screens.

Isn’t pretty overkill to pair a 2080 (even the MaxQ version) with a 1080p panel? (cue raytracing performance jokes), although I get it for 240hz, and performance isn’t quite there for 4K60.

So where is the love for 1440p? Just like in the desktop space it seems like a good middle ground to me and should be well complemented with a 2070/2080 with a 144hz panel and GSync.

Am I missing something obvious here?

I was wondering this.

Doesn't seem to be any. It seems to be 1080p 144hz or 4k.

I'll probably just end up buying whichever one has an OLED screen as although I'm not super-set on 4k, I'm also not ready to go to a 1080p screen easily after using a macbook pro retina for so long.

Alienware 17 R4? Sounds like a jet plane taking off but if you can stand the fan noise it does have a 120hz 1440p screen.

I'm not the biggest fan of the big ol alien-face laptops. I checked out the web page which made me chuckle a bit. They paired the 13" with a 1440p screen and a GTX 1060 and the older 15" (non m) with a GTX 1080 on 1080p60, and I guess the 15" is newer since it has a later gen intel CPU (but then the 13" is OLED)

I've still got my hopes up for something a thinner and slicker for portability, and Turing.
