Hello all,

Any ideas of suppliers for a pre-painted body shell for a new shape Astra?

More specifically a mk5 '06 reg.

Few ideas bobbing around in the head...

Many Thanks,

That'd cost a lot surely. Can you not grab one from a scrappy that's got front end damage/unimportant parts damaged?

It'd be cheaper and supply you with plenty of other bits to play with too. :)

And yes, what are you thinking?

Go on, indulge us... what are you thinking :p

The one I smashed up has been offered to me for PEANUTS.

Me and Dad are looking at pictures and are thinking of buying a new shell and basically rebuilding it with the new shell and replacing anything that needs replacing.

I really miss that car :(

EDIT: The only thing I prefer the Saab over is that it's faster, engine mods and a turbo will soon sort that out though :p

Because it'd be someone else's car. It only had 8000 miles on it, and if I get it back I wouldn't drive like a complete ****** like before.

This is good news - this means you have very, very low standards and are easily pleased. This means you can buy all manner of cars which are merely 'alright' rather than 'dull' like the Astra and feel like you've just bought a Ferrari :D

Hahaha :p

Seeing as you want to rebuild the old car, yes, a new shell would be easier...but costly.

I was under the impression you were having dirty thoughts about putting something like a V8 in one and making it RWD or something. :p

I'm sorry but the Astra was not "dull"

It was a perfectly good car, and I loved it to pieces. So what if it didn't have leather interior or rear parking sensors or any other of your luxury's your used to. These are not important to me.

I liked it, and I want it back :)

hehe, now theres an idea :p

What was it again, a 1.6 Design? It's not a bad car by any means but you can do lots better for less money than putting it back on the road dude :)

1.6 SXI.

And yes...I know...but still...

try agw in inverkeithing, they've been known to stock brand new shells failing that vauxhall for a pants down and vaseline experience :)

bear in mind a replacement bodyshell will have a different Vin no and this could cause complications using the old cars vin is risky as will put future buyers off as it wont look factory as far as i know Porsche is the only company to issue shells with the same vin no

How much have you been offered the salvage for? And wasn't it nearly 2 years ago now?

£400 I did it in November 2006.

My Dad's friend owns the salvage yard is at and he can't shift it so offered it to me cheap.

I'd either buy a new shell and swap it over OR buy another damaged one that has a perfect front end and roof and "cut and shut"
