Where Can I Do This?

Basically I went to some Jap car meet last night and have been bitten by the bug for a turbo nutter jap ninja car. I was taken out in a 400bhp TT supra and "killed at least.....3 children.....and animals" :D

But I now want to look into buying one of the following - RX7, Supra TT, Skyline R33, Evo or Impreza. I know that they are all completely different cars in their own right, but I want to be able to feel the similarities in the driving experience.

Whats the best way of getting to drive these cars to find out which one I would like best? Just from everything I know/read/hear I think I would prefer a Skyline R33.

You only live once ;)

Just find some for sale and go test drive them. If you are genuinely interested it shouldn't be hard to arrange a test drive. I don't think I've had problems getting a drive in anything (remotely feasable) so far.

ive always hankered after a supra. you only live once, as you said, and its rear wheel drive... so you will not be alive for long.

skyline... i would hate to imagine the possible issues you can end up with on that complex (and slightly homo) 4wd system.

get the supra. are you sure youre likely to be able to keep it on the road? what do you drive now?

DRIVE THEM ALL, dont even consider one before you have driven at least one of each, do this by simply viewing them at import places or even private ones, i know its harsh to mess people around but its the only way to be sure really, at the roughly same sort of power levels that you intend to run. :)

My opinions of the Supra for example were that it seemed just too bloomin big, i didnt feel like i could see out of it properly, and it just felt like a right handful. Great car but i dont think i could ever feel confident thrashing the nuts off it on a daily basis.

Then take the RX7 FD, i just plain didnt like the engine, it has little engine braking and i didnt like the fact that i had to rev it and really work the car to make progress, its not a critisism of the engine itself but personally i didnt get on with it - glad i test drove it before really looking into them any further.

He didnt mention a R33 GTR ;) ... plenty of high powered GTST's out there RWD all the way :p

I drive a 1.0 corsa.

I dont want to come across as a time waster when Im not genuinely interested in buying a persons car, but just want to drive it! I might see if I can find a Jap import centre who have a lot of different cars available.

I hope you're ready for the *serious* difference in cost of insurance between what you've already got and the likes of those. They are all group 20 cars, and will command a large premium.

I don't want to put a downer on things, but firstly how old are you, and how much experience do you have?

It may be worth you stepping up gradually to cars such as those.

Something like a Nissan 200SX will give you a nice power hike, are rwd/turbo, aren't too bad on insurance (gp 16), easily moddable, and whilst powerful, won't get you into quite as much trouble as the likes of a Supra/Skyline/RX7/Evo etc.

Ok in all seriousness now, Im 24, been driving for 7 years, had no claims, points, accidents etc, 3 years no claims, live in a very insurance friendly postcode so this is not an issue as I have alreay had quotes for these cars. I have driven (not owned :p) for extended periods of time (weeks - months) reasonably fast cars.
My actual car is a 172 which I may even consider keeping and letting my brother use as his car.
I dont want a 200sx.
Im just interested in being able to drive these cars to see which I prefer.

EDIT: 330Ci is out the window now unfortunately :( which is why I started this thread :)

Apparently UK spec supras are very easy to insure. im sure some people on here (Worthy?) has mentioned this before.
200sx S14a is grp18?

Your right, they are very reasonable as long as it is a UK spec. Ive been quoted around £800 fully comp. An S2000 was a lot more.
