Support for legacy SideWinder game port controllers are built into Windows 2000 and Windows XP. To install a SideWinder game port device on Windows 2000 or Windows XP, follow the steps below for your Windows version: Windows 2000 Connect your SideWinder game controller to the game port or USB port in your computer. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel. Double-click Gaming Options. Click Add. In the Game Controllers box, click Microsoft SideWinder (Auto Detect), and then click OK. Windows XP Connect your SideWinder game controller to the game port or USB port in your computer. Click Start, and then click Control Panel. Double-click Game Controllers. Click Add. In the Game Controllers box, click Microsoft SideWinder (Auto Detect), and then click OK.

I did what you said MrLol and I got it installed but does this mean that theres no software for it? Coz I used to have a software DVD that came with it but I lost it and you could setup loads of options for games inside that software. Like what I do with my microsoft steering wheel and logitech mx518 mouse.

I got software for the mouse but for the wheel and joystick they're both installed but no software for either.

Cheers in advance,

i believe the drivers for the sidewinder come with windows XP so you dont actually need a disc

like it comes with drivers for my old Intellimouse etc..

windows does ship with a ton of drivers with it, its just because they never change they get quickly outdated, unless that is, your using a joypad as old as that sidewinder :)

oh and for what its worth, i looked on the MS site, and it did have a software suite, but they only have a windows 98/95 version. Did you ever have that software running on XP ?

Am not sure what software it was, maybe, because I've had this micrsoft wheel and joystick for years. Any chance of a link to that software so I can try it?

Thanks for ya help,

P.S. Why is it so hard to find things on micrsoft website, you should just be able to click software/drivers and then be there. I like how easy it is at the ATI website to find my graphic drivers.
