Where can i get one of these!?

What you don't seem to get is that the screen is large and always in front meaning that you don't move your head.

The reason it pitches upwards so far is that it moves the center of mavity giving the effect that you are rapidly accelerating, the drop followed by the pitch upwards again is the gear change likewise the opposite for breaking. And it is a F1 car

It even seems to give the effect of drops and raises in the surface of the road. I would love to try one out.

The idea is it simulates the forces experienced by the driver, not the movements of the car.

do you actually think those kind of forces are experienced by an F1 driver?

If he was rally driving or drag racing it would be more convincing with the thrust and the bumps, but trying to say those motions are experienced by real F1 drivers is stupid.

sorry, but its true

You are missing the point of it. The motions denote forces experienced by the drivers, not the angle of the car or the driver at that given moment. For example leaning the seat forwards would pull his body forwards, simulating deceleration as you would feel in a car when you break heavily. His body would press against the harness and his head would be pulled forward by mavity, just as it is when you brake in a car except in real life these forces would be caused by deceleration. As the television fills his eyesight it doesn't affect the viewing angle of the screen.

Looks a bit distracting to me although I would probably just pull some crazy turns in games just to see what happens :p

It's like those Airplane simulators you used to see a lot in the 90's at Museums and Theme parks etc. You were only ever moving about 1-2 metres in 1 direction but they simulated a lot of forces to add to the realism of whatever item you were in.

The only reason this is probably not as good is that you are not in an enclosed area/darkness so the illusion is ruined a bit by your eyes knowing you are going up and down (I would imagine).

Edit: Like this one that is still (it seems) at the Science Museum http://www.sciencemuseum.org.uk/vis...edia/Images/main/galleries/simulator jpg.ashx

Indeed, I don't see why people are failing to grasp this. It's simulating the FEELING of the FORCES, not the actual movement. You are concentrating on the screen (which is always in the same position in front of you), and you won't actually notice the exagerated movements, you just feel the forces.

As has been said, you're not getting it.

In a non-moving position playing a game, you only have the 1g of force acting on you, straight down. So how do you simulate the g-forces of acceleration, braking and turning? You tilt the chair.

Back makes your brain think you're being forced backwards into your seat, thus feels somewhat like acceleration. Forwards is braking, and what seems like the "wrong" side (away from a corner) gives the impression of the forces pushing you outwards on a turn.

:)

I think some of us would have to experience it to believe it is any use at all. Is it easy to steer a wheel controller when you're being jostled about like a bucking bronco.

More to the point if it costs around 5 - 6k why not just buy a decent second hand car and give that a good blast round a track?

I don't doubt that maybe it simulates G-forces, but without an enclosed space, without knowing what games it actually works with and with the price of it I don't personally see the draw.
