I've had my Nokia 8800 on eBay four times now and everytime it's been bought by scammers ending up in me having to relist it. Now I've put so many restrictions on it to stop the scammers that it didn't sell this time and I'm annoyed :\ Where else is a good place to sell phones, any other auction sites? Local paper?

Depends how much you want for it to be honest.

Places like Cash Convertors are a cert for selling it but you will get about a third of its 2nd hand worth.

Local papers are likely to have less scammers than places like ebay and you can get more money than you would selling it to a shop.

Is it unlocked to all networks?

No way!

Thanks anyway :)

It isn't worth more than that so you'll probably have a hard time getting more. Despite its high retail price it doesn't have the features or power to make it worth anywhere near that much.

Hmmmmm, what you think of the phone is irrelevant the price of these sim free is way above that mark and rightly so. I could shift 10 in a matter of mins on ebay for a little less than half that price. Get your facts right!!!!!

Ha, these phones sell on looks not features. Sold two in the local Adtrader boxed just over 14months old for £330 each, took all of 3 days and was paid in cash. TBH the number of calls I had probably could have sold them 10 times over.

This is used not new. And judging by the price they are selling for on ebay (after taking away the ones that ended but didn't actually sell at their bidded price because of timewasters) £117 isn't bad considering that a lot of prices there are made higher because of people wanting to win the auction rather than get a good deal on the phone. Just because some sell high because people don't know where to get them cheaper doesn't necessariliy mean they are worth that much, price and worth are not the same thing. If you look at the comments on gsm arena quite a few people hated it which probably explains why there is so many on ebay, not counting the ones relisted nth times because of timewasters.

A few more posts & you'll be able to flog it in the MM ;)

If you live in the London area then www.gumtree.com is another place to look at. I've sold plenty of my phones in there without any major hassle although you will find a lot of people selling the same phone at a cheaper price than yours.

What is with those scammers? I just noticed how bad it is on there, Is ebay going to do something about that?

I've noticed they pretty much all the ridiculous bidders have zero feedback, can't you just not allow them to bid?

Price and worth are the same thing, something is worth what some one is willing to pay for it. With out being rude, what your saying is total rubbish. £200+ os a good price of even a used 8800. And I would expect around £250, if you can find them for less than £150 used or not then you are a lucky man and should be very rich. There are many haters of most phones but there are a lot of lovers of the 8800 hence its price.

I had a similar thing happen with an old PDA.
It ended getting 'bought' by some scammer who thanked me for selling him the mobile phone?(its a pda!), and wanted me to send it to Nigeria before he payed me! Not a chance im falling for that. Reported it, they voided the transaction, but still charged me to relist it. But i didnt, because i couldnt be bothered. So the PDA is still sat on the side doing nothing. :p

So when scammers win your auction does ebay waive the fees?

Thats BS and you know it, something is worth what people are willing to pay and people (ok not you) are willing to pay £250 to £300 for a used 8800 i know i paid around £350 for my one new so used its still worth a lot.
