I am everywhere...
Basically, a bus driver crashed into me via swaying onto my lane on friday nite. More than three quaters of the bus went past me without no problem until for what ever reason he decide to move on to my side of the lane thereby scratching, scraping and denting me from the rear bus wheel all the way to the end of the bus  He refused to stop and kept on driving, i had to drive after him and told him he crashed into me - He still carry on driving! At this point i had to drive like a mad man and stop infront of him. He claimed he didnt realised and CLAIMED  also not to have swerved on to my lane.

Police got involed and the usual exchanging of details happened. Luckily the damage is gonna cost about 250pounds to fix privately but if i go through my insurance i have to pay 350 excess which i dont think it is worth it. The thing is this, there wasnt any withness at the moment and im thinking of getting it done and claiming my money latter (which i beleive will be a uphill battle).

Any advice appreciated. Thanks.

Can you get the insurance / police to match the paint on your car to the bus?

Police at the scene of accident showed no interest, (friday night is always busy for police force in london) As for insurance i dont know honestly if it is possible, i already made a claim this year and i think another one will dent a hole in my NCB... I guess am gonna try and find that out.

Insurance would probably do a knock for knock. If he only did £250 worth of damage it couldn't have been too hard, he may well of not felt it in a bus.

Fix your car and forget it. If you claim they will sting you on your premium renewal for the next 3-5 years regardles of fault.

friday night and the bus was empty?

I waited for him to stop but he didnt and when i drove and stopped in front of him, most of the passengers came off the bus. He came out shouting and i just stepped away from him to diffuse the tension, by the time police arrived the bus was empty, The police told me to "go get" the cctv tapes (like am gonna get it) for the high street.

Bus drivers just don't care as it's not their bus. All they'll gain by stopping is getting penalised/reprimanded by their employers for the damage so they figure the best way is to just drive off and, if challenged, claim it never happened.

Maybe find out where the moron lives and key his car, see how he likes it ;)

Exactly, I was coming home on the bus today and at one point we must have been about 1cm away from the side of a HGV trailer.

Shocking really

I doubt the idiot even has a car - iirc most bus drivers in london get free pass on all london transport network. I think, i will have to get it done privately, avoid insurance and try to get their head office (arriva) to pay up with a sumons from small claims court...?

Yer they get free bus travel for their family, arriva offer their drivers some sort of company car/contract hire purchase scheme thing that is supposed to be very good.

I read recently that writing to most large firms and making threats about small claims courts is the most effective way to deal with a complaint. I dont know how accurate that is.

good luck it took nearly eight months to get arriva to pay for the damage to the rear of my wifes galaxy...and that was with witnesses :( put the claim in with your insurance , but let them see if they can get arriva to accept the blame first.)
