We'll i've got my free 360 coming in the next month or so, but i haven't really been paying attention to what games are available, so what can you recommened?

I like racing and FPS, but am really open to all suggestions, i haven't really got any genres that i dislike, so shoot away.

Thanks for your help.

Can't wait.

Racing - PGR (sim)/burnout (fun)
FPS - GRAW(online/single player/coop)/Perfect Dark (COOP)

Just my suggestions, Oblivion is good if you havent got it for PC.

Live Gold is a MUST! so you can play all us online :)

BTW where did u get it for free?

I`d agree and go with GRAW for your fps but with regards to racing i would go for Moto GP. Gotham is great but is very arcadey imo, whereas you have to be at least half decent to get anywhere in Moto GP.

cool, thanks for the quick replies.

I've played PGR briefly in comet and liked what i saw, didn't look particullary great but this could have just been the way that it was set up on their screen. So i think that one might be a must have.

Oblivion, i had this on my PC, didn't really get on with it very well, so sold it on ebay...

I might download the GRAW demo tonight, see how i can get on with it.

I got the xbox from dialaphone, got a new phone contract today, got my phone for £39(normally £200) got the xbox plus some other phone accessories, and i just have to pay £35 a month, which is what i'm paying on my current contract anyway. So it's all good, though the only thing is that i have to wait 28 days till i can get my hands on the box.

PGR for racing, closely followed by Burnout
Battlefield 2 and COD2 for your FPS fix
GRAW
and for £25 you can't ignore Table Tennis!

PS... BF2 > GRAW online

Second that man on Moto GP - at first it is hard to like, but it really sucks you in and is just superb via Live.

Call of Duty 2 is also great - if you havent played on PC.

My free one also came from dialphone :D Well... coming in the next month or so lol

Thinking about MotoGP06,, also looking forward to assassins cvreed and golden axe

battlefield and COD2 i've also got on the PC, when is this gears of war game coming out. I've seen the e3 vids and it looked pretty nice.

Gears of War is pencilled in for November 06, but I wouldn't be surprised to see it slip to 2007.

okay not to worry, what others are scheculed for the near future.

I take it i can get hold of a lot of these games demo's on Live?

How do i go about connection it to a wireless network?

It's only a core system, what do i need to go online?

Many more questions to come in the future

Battlefield is a different game, I also found CoD 2 to be better on the Xbox360 than on the PC.

Burnout is the best game on the console in my opinion.

Hi,

Yep, most of these demos are on live!

You'll need one of these http://www.game.co.uk/ViewProduct.aspx?cat=11273&mid=327033 to connect to a wireless network. It may be expensive but from what I can gather it's a hastle free solution.

As you've got a core (I have as well) and want to download demo's etc. you'll need a hard drive. Even if you don't want demos I'd still recommend you get one. > http://www.game.co.uk/ViewProduct.aspx?cat=11273&mid=327028 If you don't fancy one of these you'll still need a memory card to save your games > http://www.game.co.uk/ViewProduct.aspx?cat=11273&mid=327026

Finally what tv are you connecting to? The core only comes with a composite lead with SCART adaptor and you'll want get a better lead as soon as possible.

Composite SCART < RGB SCART < Component or VGA (Both allow High Def gaming!). There's a lead available for each connection type. As I said, let us know what TV / Monitor you're connecting to and we can advise.

As for games you really can't go wrong with Burnout: Revenge, PGR3, COD2, Oblivion, GRAW, Condemned, Tomb Raider Legend, and you can get Kameo and King Kong pretty cheap these days and I thought both were a lot of fun.

Prey and Chrome Hounds come out beginning of July and both look very good.

Btw, I've only listed from Game as I kinda had it open. I'm sure you can get all these bits cheaper if you look around.

Hope you enjoy your 360, mine reviltalised a tired gamer :) I can't get enough now.

I'm going to be hooking it up to my 19" monitor for the moment, though i might just use it on my widescreen downstairs, it's not a hi-def or anything though just a bog standard crt.

With my monitor it doesn't have any connections on the back though, it has the one DVI lead coming out, if i use the DVI to VGA convertor would i be able to connect it that way to the box.

What's the difference between Live silver and gold?

Im going to get the Live Starter Pack, whther this is needed or not I don't know, but you get some useful stuff (eg the headset) in it.

I would reccomend most definately a memory card, you cant save otherwise, and hard drives are stupidly expensive! £65 for a 20gb HDD!

Hey I just had a thought. Is there any way of linking up a regular PC HDD with your xbox instead?

Try it on your widescreen CRT; I was running mine for 6 months SD before I talked the boss (mrs) into a LCD and it really isn't as bad as all that. If you decide this is the way to go you'd be advised to get an RGB SCART lead though.

Imo the way to play is sat back on a sofa (you'll need to pay out yet more money for a wireless controller ideally though).

As for silver and gold. Silver access allows you access to the market place, to download demo's, trailers etc but not to play games. Gold lets you play games online basically.

You'll get 1 free month of Gold so give that a go before paying out the extra.
