Where do you get your curry?

My (best) local Indian takeaway/delivery place caught fire several weeks ago, and is still closed. :(

It might be an insurance job? Who knows. Either way, the food from there was great. Chicken tikka (skewered) was fresh and juicy and tasty. Other stuff like dhaal's and rogan josh were excellent.

But I normally go for a chinese. You can't beat the crispy duck with pancakes, or the peking spare ribs.

In all seriousness though, having moved from the West Mids up to here, there's no such thing as a good curry here. The local Mr Singh's closed down last month but has since re-opened/launched a couple of weeks ago as an independent.

Just to add, I've never been to a Mr Singh's, either in the West Mids or here. I'm guessing it's a franchise more than a chain.

That's bad news. Might be better off learning to cook your own curries.

I never said I can't/don't ;)

The Mrs and I regularly make our own, every one unique, and every one enjoyable.

The Mrs even makes her own Naans. We don't have a tandoor, but she always successfully mimics the tandoor on the griddle.

Yeah, I moved from Derby where there was great curry houses and takeaways to Sale in Manchester and all the takeaway curries was dreadful, and stopped having them. I did spend a life time (at the time) mastering where the best places to go for different foods in Derby thou.

moved to a different area of greater Manchester and we have restaurants that do a great takeaway curry but at restaurant prices.. oh well…

but as for Chinese food around here, one is meh and all the others are dreadful…

it just takes time to settle…
