Where do you get your plates from?

No, not crockery. Number plates.

Preferably without branding on them, but I seem to recall it’s a legal requirement for the plate manufacturer details to be on them, or is that BS?

I think you are supposed to have it, but I didn't for years and no one brought it up in MOTs.

You could just get custom ones made and put the car manufacturer's address there. No one will question that :)

eBay. Pressed metal ftw. Under 25 quid and the legal requirements are all met but very discrete so the plate is super clean.

Do you still have to provide proof of ownership when buying number plates? I just get the customer to bring them if needed as I can't be faffed with all the bureaucracy over things like that. The hoops Mercedes put you through to buy a new ECU is bad enough, I mean what thief is going to want to buy a new gearbox ecu in order to nick an ML500 Mercedes?

I've always bought them off eBay, just look for the road legal ones and not show plates, they'll usually have the company address printed really small in yellow on the yellow plates so you can't really see it unless you're looking for it.

There’s no requirement for suppliers name, postcode etc for the MOT.
I’ve got show plates from eBay on both my bikes and car.

I use a site called Plates For Cars I believe it was, meets all legal requirements for supplier name postcode and BSA stuff but is super subtle.

This plate has all of the legally required information on it (if you look very closely you can see some of it bottom right)

But you left the supplier's prancing horse on, clearly visible.... ;)

I get mine from here too, tiny markings and really good quality.

Just checked and most of mine are from Plates For Cars, although some of my plates are also from proplates and have equally small markings :)
