Hi,

If I were to replace a speaker into a hole which has a 7" diameter. What size speaker would I put in there?

Hole to hole its 8.5"

So what is the actual diameter of the speaker?
I have the originaly speaker here aswell.

Thanks :)

Lol,

Tape measure at the ready, but where do I measure?
Is it the cone, or the actual lip of the complete speaker, or from screw to screw across the center?

I'm not sure if it's called a 7" speaker or a 8.5" speaker :(

I believe it is the diameter across the cone and excursion, but not the fixtures (holes etc). It should match the basket mounting diameter (ie, the hole diameter required for the driver). Seems to vary a bit between models though. 8.5" is not a size i've heard of, 7" is so this fits with my thinking too, so a 7" driver should fit.

What speaker are you replacing though? If it's not identical/very similar, it is unlikely to perform well in the non-specific enclosure.

The speaker should list mounting diameter in the specifications.

Mounting diameter = hole diameter
