All people buying say the Eclipse P400 or the nzxt h440, where are you putting optical drives?

I use one for backing up my music collection etc to use within Kodi. Right now i dont have funds for buying a dedicated server or front end and currently use my gaming pc and a Hdmi cable to the front of my Yamaha 777 amp.

I want to down size my current Phanteks entho primo to something more manageable that can sit on my desk due to illness.

I looked at housing to make mine into an external drive but have read all sorts of problems with them and not sure this will be reliable enough. Having said that the drive is only used when i buy new music etc, i collect certain music collections.

What are peoples temps like in the NZXT H440, as again ive read of gpu temps increasing by up to 10 degrees?

I think the phasing out of optical drive bays has come too soon, there's stuff I have on cd and dvd I can't find online.

It's not like you can't buy cases with DVD drives anymore... plenty flagship cases still being made, and there will continue to be for a long time yet. You are far from alone in that respect. We're just seeing a new sector in the case market open up for people who don't want or need 5.25" bays anymore. As mentioned, there are some nice USB optical drives that do an excellent job, and they don't look too shabby either. Can place on your desk for slightly easier access as well. Personally, this works well for me, even if I need access to the drive for prolonged periods of time.

I've got two external drives, one powered solely by USB, and the other powered by a wall plug. I find on the rare occasion that I need to use it, i can plug it in. Otherwise it gets stored in a drawer out of the way.

I would have to buy an external drive but i already have a bluray drive that works great.
Just a shame i cant turn this into a reliable external drive, some cd`s are no longer sold and i cant get them anywhere else at present.

This. Was too lazy to dig one out the other day to install a game - just downloaded it from steam instead.
I've done that with such things before, but my internet is so slow that I've dug out whatever it was and finished it before the e-version has even downloaded a quarter of the way.

I do have an external DVD drive despite having one actually installed and working just fine, but I still want lots of 5.25" bays so I can easy-fit lots of home-made mods in as well.

I have an internal drive, but it's not installed in the case. On the rare occasions that i need to use it i just place it on a box outside of the case and plug in the neccesary cables.

I had the same issue, I bought the Anker USB 3.0 to SATA for £20 from the rain forest, I've used it twice so far and it's worked perfectly, the rest of the time my bluray drive sits in a cupboard.

I did consider a nice slimline external drive but the extra expense wan't worth it for the amount I'd have used it and wasted my current internal drive.
