where do you put optical drive?

Made me chuckle..
Sat here browsing, looking up at me optical drive, would not be without it.
Then i turn round and there is my old 775 machine and I am messing about with IDE drives...
And dont forget the floppy drive. I had a rye smile on my face when I heard the clicking as the floppy boot search started..

Ahhh the old days.

Mind you I think I may have forgotten how to install Windows botting from floppy first.

Then I trun left and there is my lappy just having a fresh Windows 10 installed...

I have a DVD-RW as a network share in my N54L if I ever need to use it. Also got a USB slim drive for netbooks etc without an optical drive.

Optical drive? They are about as useful as a floppy drive now.
Wrong.
Why is it that when anyone posts about an optical drive, loads of people reply as to why those of us that use them a lot don't need them, or posts to say they haven't used one for 3 years?
If someone asked about train times to, say London, I wouldn't reply that I haven't used one for 10 years and that I only go to London for work now.
What I do find useless in cases is the array of hard drive cages.
Who needs 10 disk drives - personally I use a M2 nvme - extra SSD's I can fit anywhere.
But that's not relevant to this thread is it?

I find the attitude depressing from a case manufacturer.

So those of us that want to burn say higher def audio have to use a slower, lower performing external drive?
Fit fan controllers in all your cases and it takes away one reason we want optical drive bays.
Someone is going to reply to this now saying how their external dvd drive is fine on the rare occasions they use it.
Some of us use these things regularly.

Still rocking an N40L with DVD and an MSI GT72 6QE with blu ray drive, picked the laptop up specifically to allow use of CD/DVD/blu ray ripping (if it's legal that week).

I'm currently making ISOs out of works extensive disc media library.

.... Well.

We have the OP asking about two cases in particular, both of which have omitted any 5.25" slots... any you're wondering why people might be discussing the lack of need for 5.25" optical drives these days?

Really?

A more relevant example would be walking on to a bus and asking about train times.

No, it's not.

It's not like the supply of cases with drive bays has suddenly dried up.

HD audio? what are you burning that on? Must be bluray if you are worried about write speeds. Where do you get all that HD audio from?
Rhetorical, you don't need to answer that).
