Where does the universe end?

Where does it begin, is the important question. :)

I think that everything is just electrical signals inside out heads. I think that even the perception that we experience everything in out heads is just electrical signal in our heads.

Confused? Think about dreams. You can see, smell, touch, taste ect inside your dream and you are convinced what you are facing is real. No external stimuli was needed for you to experience what you did in your dream. It was all just electrical impulse signals inside your head.

Our true existence lies elsewhere.

Guys. All you have to do to prove they are different is to find a number between 0.9r and 1. :)

Shouldn't take too long. Hop to it.

isn't it 0.1r? which would mean 1 and 0.9r are different numbers.
who would have thought something as big as the universe could create such a debate over something so small?
gilly you're not alone!

Then you would have 1.1r.

On the other hand, we're assuming that 0.9r can actually exist. I don't think it can but I'm prepared to be educated on that.

Pi has no pattern because it's an irrational number. In fact, it's a transcendental number. So for any finite sequence of digits you can think of, the decimal expansion of pi will contain it somewhere.

Surely it's possible for an infinite string to exist without containing every single possible finite sequence of digits. For example, does Pi have to contain 9.24x10^536 0's in a row somewhere in the sequence?

Wow, never thought of that. That makes me ponder!

Sorry, I've only just noticed this. I'm afraid this isn't true at all. For instance the number defined by:

(1/10)^1 + (1/10)^(1x2) + (1/10)^(1x2x3) + (1/10)^(1x2x3x4) + ... + (1/10)^(n!) + ...

is transcendental (known as Liouville's constant). This number has a very simple and obvious pattern (all zeros, except for 1s in the n!'th decimal place for each n), only contains zeros and ones, and is transcendental.

Or fundamentally there is nothing there. We are essentially just walking around in a big black space but our eyes and brain create and perceive everything we see. Hence why blind people see black, they are really perceiving reality.lul
