Where does windows xp update store downloaded files?

As title really guys just reinstalled xp home on a mates pc.new mobo,ram,cpu.
Activated over the web no problem
reinstalled (as he does not want to do a fresh install till he has backed everything up)
all updates have down loaded but refuse to install:confused:
so i was gonna delete them and redownload,but cant find the little buggers (and yes i have `view hidden files` enabled):)
Please someone tell me:)
 
It's normally in a folder off the root on any drive it determines as having the right capacity. So have a look through the root folder of all the drives you have installed.
