Where dose the ram go?

Hi guys i got an msi z87-g45 motherboard and Corsair 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 1600Mhz Ram, now i am wondering which slots they should go in the motherboard? the 2 closets the CPU? or the furthest? and should be they be in slots near or should it go put 1 in a slot , 1 slot has nothing and then the other slot has the other stick of ram?

It tells you in the manual for the board which pair to use first.

Use the 2nd and 4th slots for 2 sticks of ram.
