Sorry for the long winded post, just thought I would share my internet woes

Well last year I moved to Be* as their LLU service was enabled in my area. From June last year I have been experiencing speeds of up 14Mbps which I was pleased with.

As of last week I noticed a sudden drop in my sync speed to around a normal ASDLMax speed (so 8Mbps). I contacted Be* using the online ticketing system. They promptly sent me a ticket back explaining that I should try a new ADSL filter, connect my computer via the ethernet, try using the router plugged into the main socket in my house, upgrading the router firmware etc which I did and I still didnt see any increase in speed.

Then I had to phone them and they did a whole load of tests, with devices plugged in and not plugged into my phone line. They came to the conclusion that there was a fault on my line and that they would contact BT regarding the problem.

The next day I was suprised when I was phoned by a BT engineer and that he would be coming sometime in the morning. He came, tested, and reported that the line had minor noise on it but nothing out of the ordinary, however he did fit a proper master socket as the main socket wasnt actually a proper master socket. He said he would tell Be* of his findings.

That day another ticket came from Be* saying that there was a technical fault on the "Last Mile" of copper on my line, and that this fault had been reported and it would also be repaired.

Then today I get another ticket from Be* basically told me what factors of my line can alter the speed (which I already knew) and that my line is approx 2500m long and that they can provide a service on a line upto 5500m. The said that to improve my speed they had altered my SNR Margin. So I loaded up DMT tools to see my new sync speed and it was just over 9Mbps with an SNR of 3.5db:eek:.

What I dont understand is that for around 10 months with a Line attenuation of 37.5 and usually an SNR of 5.5-7db I was getting nearly 14Mbps, now with a very unstable SNR and the same attenuation I am only getting 9Mbps.

So has something destroyed my phone line or is it Be*?
