It's not hidden; it's just not there! It appears briefly when Windows (XP) starts up but then disappears after a second.

I’ve fiddled with the taskbar properties but can’t get it to remain, even as being hidden.

I’ve tried terminating exporer.exe from Task Manager and re-running it.

I’ve disabled and un-installed Window Blinds.

It just disappeared overnight. Literally!

Any suggestions please?

Can you check your Start Menu settings by using windows key-R, then type "control" (enter) and looking at "Task Bar and Start Menu". There might be stuff in there that helps.

Also, it is possible to drag the start menu/task bar to any edge of the screen accidently- try the sides or the top?

Does Ctrl-esc bring up the Start menu?

What about trying to 'drag' down the screen.

What about pushing the Windows key and seeing if the menu appears.

It could be that the resolution is incorrect.

So the explorer.exe is still running in the background even though it doesn't show the task bar? Are any icons on your desktop when it crashes?

Burnsy

Yes WinKey-R works, but changing settings in these properties has no affect.

Taskbar not on sides or top of screen - it briefly appears at the bottom when Windows opens.

Ctrl-esc does bring up the Start Menu.

Resizing the bottom of an open window still snaps to where the taskbar would be and also to the bottom of the screen.

Menu appears when you press the keyboard Windows/Start key

Tried adjusting res but to no avail.

Yep, tried stopping and restarting explorer.exe but nada... It's not hidden either... Windows doesn't crash, it just doesn't show the toolbar at all.But my usual desktop icons are still there.

Oh, and i've checked for viruses, adaware and reg problems, but there's nothing there....

I never realised what a pain it would be to have to alt-tab all the time...:(
