where has the navigation shortcut gone on my desire?

Hey there guys.recently got a desire,and am living it at the mo.yesterday I did a factory reset to sort a few things out and ever since,I seem to have lost the Google navigation program.
I can still use navigation through Google maps,but when I first got the phone,I was able to add a dedicated navigation icon through either widgets or programs but its disappeared since the reset.
Does ne1 have any idea where I can find it or how I can get it.

Check for system updates.. and make sure Google maps is up to date

Sorry mate,what exactly do u mean?
I've done an update,got the latest Google maps aswell so cnt work out where the option mite have gone.any other input wud be appreciated.

I found that out when I reset my phone and updated google maps, it wasn't there for me either. Was racking my head trying to think if I'd done something previously, and trying to work out where it'd gone. Discovered it didn't appear on my handset until I powered it off, then turned it back on. (as in hard, power off, not just standby)

Perhaps try that if you haven't

Mine was missing too after I did a hard reset. To get it back, open maps, get directions for somewhere and then ask it to navigate. You'll get the EULA for Navigate and the warning not to play with it when driving. After switching it off and on again, bingo: the icon is back!

In beta features of google maps (press menu in maps, more) there's an option to include a "navigate to here" button for the standard maps UI - I'd highly recommend it.
