Afternoon guys and gals.. not to create another 'spec me ' thread (which this is!) but I've found myself in a bit of a quandry!
I've been using macs for a year now and even though the hardware technology has moved on, i'm lost when it comes to all the numbers...Dual core, quad core!? Anyway.....
I'm now in the market for a windows machine mainly for home office, but I'd like to be able to use photoshop and play games if I felt the need. My budget is about £1000 to include a monitor and OS if possible, although I do have a monitor to make use of if needs be..
Seeing as the last PC i built was a P4 2.6 ghz with RAMBUS in it, I'm pretty lost!
So... my question is can I build a fairly decent machine for £1000?
I'd prefer the intel / ati route if possible but I'm not aversed to using nVidia!
I'm looking to run my HDDS in raid and would like as much memory as possible.. I'm not really fussed about a sound card, but a 7.1 Audigy was the last sound card I bought - years ago!
So.. to summarise £1000 to spend on a (not!)beige box / os and a monitor if possible
Anyway - advice would be gratefully appreciated!
Cheers
Tom
