Rebel millionaire is on Ch4 in my local area, it should be good for a laugh

one example is this lad was bragging he was on the sick, he had a gold braclet i could not even carry and he was on a motocross bike which had no numberplate.

How can he afford what must be £1000+ worth of gold on his arm, all Whilst bragging on TV he is on the sick...

Joke.

You delivered that joke so well, I don't feel as if I've actually missed it

anyway this lad was bragging he was on the sick, he had a gold braclet i could not even carry and he was on a motocross bike which had no numberplate.

The joke is, he does not look sick to me, and how can he afford what must be £1000+ worth of gold on his arm, all Whislt bragging on TV he is on the sick...

thats what i find the joke.

edit - i was typing quickly so you could turn it on to ch4 quickly, so i guess i didnt put my point across very well SORRY

ive never heard the phrase 'on the sick'

...anyone care to explain?

its a bit like on the blob but the other end :p

it means pulling a sick day, phoning in sick when there is nothing wrong with you!

I figured as much. wasn't really sure though...

Fraudulently being on benefits due to a claimed illness that is of such a severity that you are unable to work. In the Ali-G film, Ali claimed to have a sprained scratching finger.

EDIT: It can also mean, as already posted, taking a single day off work 'sick' when you are not - although I'd call that taking a sicky. As described, I would presume that my definition is more likely to be correct for this particular example.

well close.. it must be the northern lingo

I think quite a few people do it round here.

It basically means being on long term illness benefit (not sure what its called)

Quite a lot of people do it to avoid getting a job, its like signing on but you dont have to go to the dole office you just get money thrown at you

well i judged it in the first 10 mins which showed the people playing up for the camera..

I did not know any of those good deed's happened in this area and i can say i am truly shocked. Well done to the unsung hero's in this area

2 out of the 3 good causes really did deserve it, the other i am unsure about

------
btw i recorded the prog, would i be allowed to show the guy on the motobike that i thought was a joke, or would this be against copyright and get me in trouble.
