Hi,

I have just finished my degree in automotive engineering, now I am on the hunt for a job. Where are the best places to look for engineering jobs right now? I get practical engineer magazine but there isn't that many in those. Any recommendations would be incredibly helpful.

Theres close to sweet FA about at the moment jobwise. I guess you are positioned slightly differently as a graduate rather than a experienced employ. I use jobsite.com a lot and many of the agencies have me on record.

Jonathan Lee are a pretty well regarded agency in the automotive sector.

I have found these ones have a lot of engineering and industrial design jobs advertised:

http://www.ukjobsnet.co.uk/

Good CV guide here but not that many jobs:

However, I'll warn you that I've put in over 40 applications in the last few months to all these glorious sounding jobs and quite a few of them are a bit too good to be true, so a lot of them appear to be there purely for CV farming. Good luck, hope you have better luck than me...

engineering jobs is a good one.

and there are still jobs out there at the moment. even in the automotive sector.

it might be an idea to do some cad/drafting contracting on a 6 month contract. will be good experience.

to be honest you will probably have missed the boat with 90% of grad entry stuff this year.

Not in civil/structural engineering, they are not. Building/NCE/IStructE have had articles on pay cuts, cancelled grad intakes, redundancies, etc.

i dont think its easy at the moemnt, and TBH if the OP wanted a grad job they have probably missed the boat this year as 90% of the placess will be filled.

but there are other options. SME offer grate opportunity and lots of responsibly at a young age. but at the moment might be harder to find. also contacting (CAD etc) may also be a good idea.

saitrix do you have any experience?

the problem I have always have with automotive jobs is they always ask for some automotive experience.
