Hi,

Probably being very thick here.

I've taken video footage using my iphone, which I've copied to my Mac.

I've trimmed it etc using iMovie 11.

I want to burn it to a DVD to be usable in any DVD player.

I attempt to convert the footage into DVD friendly format but my Mac then asks me for the location of iDVD?

I've been to the apple store to buy iDVD and can't seem to find it there.

Help!

Thanks in advance

Hussman

It's part of iLife so will be sitting in your applications folder. Just do a Cmd+Space to bring up spotlight and search "iDvd" - boom!

Found it on some old Mac Disks.

Can someone explain why iMovie 11 "help" suggests you export your movie to iDVD to render it playable on a normal DVD player if iDVD no longer gets provided with Macs...

Is it me???

Sounds stupid to me too.
Its been removed because Apple are trying to phase out the DVD completely, they would rather you purchased an Apple TV and streamed everything =/

Indeed. They've already removed the optical drive from the mini. Though I said in another thread, people complained when the price of the mini jumped when it was last updated. Removing the optical drive is one way to reduce cost, but despite reducing the cost, people now complain about there being no optical drive.

And with Lion being download based, it's clear to see that Apple are pushing the digital only distribution. It reduces their output again not having to sell DVDs with software and all the packaging and costs incurred from that. Of course, they'll spin it by saying it's all about the environment or something.

Digital distribution is something but its not going to help the average user get their holiday snaps/video's onto DVD to take around to the parents who are complete tech-no-phobes by removing iDVD is it?
