So im looking to upgrade my monitor, BUT im not sure what monitor to get to suit my system, I can get a Corsair Rm1000 PSU for £75 and my 2nd reference 290 to match mine for £150 so take £225 off my total budget for that, if that is my best option...

So my total budget is around £550 and im certainly looking to get a monitor for about £350 ISH, so i have been looking at the AOC 4k screen, or the samsung 4k, but im not sure A) what this will be like for gaming B) will i get enough fps to play...

What im looking for is to be able to play games like battlefield 4, on high to max settings and play it smoothly.

My total system specs are as follows;
AMD 8320
MSI 990FXA-GD65
Corsair H100
Sapphire Reference R9 290
Corsair Vengeance 1x8gb 1600mhz
Corsair CX750M (looking to upgrade this most importantly)
Xigmatek Alfar case
Dell 22 inch 1680x1050 Monitor

That is everything i can think of including that will be necessary, so if you need anything else dont be afraid to ask..
Just all out of ideas, and i basically am asking for some..
My current plan is, Go CF 290, Get Rm1000 and get a 4k monitor, but im not quite sure yet

Just drop me some ideas..
Thanks, Jake

your not going to max out games at 4k with that system, not even close, even if you did add another 290 the amd platform will likely be a bottleneck in cpu intensive games.

My advice would be to skip 4k and settle with a good 1440p and knock the AA down , that way you save yourself the headaches of crossfire and still get good frames and visuals.

As for battlefield 4 , its a mess of a game on all platforms.

And is this right ? Corsair Vengeance 1x8gb 1600mhz ?

yeah this is correct, i have 1 8GB stick of 1600mhz corsair vengeance, and also, in reply to your other message, ive overclocked my 8320 to 4.3ghz, and ive been told i wouldnt recieve any bottleknecking

Running your RAM in single-channel mode will not help you for sure.

Like darket said, you won't manage 4k at decent framerates on that system, and in my opinion the technology is not there for 4k yet.

Are there games you're trying to play that your PC is struggling with at the moment? If you're dead-set on 4k gaming pretty much the best thing you can do is save your money and wait.

Firstly you want to be running dual channel to get the most out of that system, so get yourself another stick, as for bottle necking , i have a Amd 8350 @ 4.7 , 8gb ram with a Asus crosshair V and a i7 3770k @ 4.6 , there is no comparison , at resolutions higher than 1080p the intel rig wins hands down be it sli 780ti's or crossfire 290's in cpu intensive games.

yeah, but im just trying to make a final decision, sorry for spamming the forums, just want more peoples opinions, and i thought making a new thread would have been the way to go... so if you dont recommend the 4k, what would be a good idea? would a 1440p or a ultrawide one from lg suit my system better and still be really really good looks wise?
