where is the bottleneck ??

Hey guys,

Returned from Insomnia today with a new purchase

GTX 1080 FTW. I was eager to install it in my PC and run few games. Once I installed the card i ran few games and notice that there isn't much difference between my GTX 980 TI and 1080 FTW. I watched some benchmarks and some of the guys run same games at smooth 60FPS...

My set up :
Core i5 4690K 3.5 GHZ
GTX 1080 FTW
8GB Ram

What resolution? If gaming at 1080p with vertical sync on there will be no difference. There is no more than 20 percent increase between the 980ti and 1080, if using a higher res with Gsync you should see a little difference. The 980ti is a great card though too so don't expect huge gains.

Get Fraps and see what fps you are geting.

the Fire Strike benchmark came up to 14251
in division its 45 FPS all maxed apart from anti-aliasing which is at 2xTSS 1440
I was hoping for a better increase

980ti is a belter of a card. The 1080 isn't really a huge jump as the marketing would have you believe.

If you wanted a bigger than max 15-20 percent increase you should have went SLI mate.

i remember when they were announcing 1080 for the first time they showed the division running at 60 FPS.... cant help but to feel a little bit lied to .... lol

1080 is not that much faster than the 980Ti at stock speeds.

And when overclocked, a 1080 has to be clocked higher than 2100 to beat a 980Ti @ 1500

That is why I bought a 2nd 980ti Kowai, games run great with 2 of these at 1440p 165hertz.
