Where is the music producing thread?

I mailed Rotty about it. People were posting stuff that had samples in it so were obviously copyrighted. He then said someone could make a new one but anyone who posts copyright in there will get a ban from the music forum and this must be made clear in the first post.

yep, shame some couldn't behave, especially at least 1 who knows every detail of the rules

On the stance with copyright, what are we like in terms of Bandcamp stuff? I had a look at the bandcamp copyright page and they seem to be just as pro-active in their stance of combating infringement as Youtube.

If you have a quick look over this; http://bandcamp.com/copyright and let me know what you think. I was looking between Bandcamp copyright info and FAQs and when compared to SoundCloud, they're much clearer in what is and is not and they will and will not accept/allow. So I think at least OCUK would be pretty well covered linking to stuff.

will ask the question for you, not my decision :)

what sort of stuff are we talking of uploading / linking ?

I would only be linking to stuff I'd heard and want to share with others.

For uploaders/musicians you still run into the same problem you had with the SoundCloud producers thread and people using samples they haven't licensed. But then Bandcamp's copyright policy is pretty clear that infringement will not be tolerated and will be removed immediately, whereas SoundCloud's copyright policy seems to be "meh, report it to us and we'll have a look".

just noticed that is a commercial site, this could be an issue

It's just another publishing platform. No different from the likes of Youtube, MySpace and others. It allows the little guy to publish their music and get a price for it. And again, if there is copyright infringement in individual tracks, or albums or album artwork the copyright policy of Bandcamp comes up trumps again.

Cheers. I don't think it should be too much of a problem due to the copyright bandcamp uses. If it's the fact it's a commercial site that's the problem, you just need to look at Youtube now. A lot of Youtube videos carry a "Buy on itunes" link for music that is posted. Bandcamp is just another distribution platform like iTunes.

I have a feeling that this is more likely to raise question marks over youtube rather than make this other site allowed :/

Either way I'm not too clear on the rules myself so let's just hope that they allow both :)

Sucks :(

I haven't used any samples that were subject to royalties, who did? Not gonna blame would just like to know which track!

Three things picked out were Krooton's Aguilera one and 2 more which I assume were posted by Magnolia (soundcloud username is magnolia down). These were a beastie boys mix and Kirsten Hersh - Torque?
