Where is your cut off temperature for your CPU

Where is your threshold and where do you consider it safe to push your C2D's/C2Q's?

I don't have a threshold, there's so much thermal protection that you can't really do anything to them heat wise.

That's what I like to hear. Currently stressing @ 3.6Ghz 1.5v in bios which is 1.43 while stressing. Temps have peaked @ 66 so far after 10 minutes.

At 3.6 my C2Q peaks at 90c on water :eek:

Why not drain your water out and have a cup of tea.... It should be hot enough.

I'd be happy up to 70 under full orthos load, even my video editing doesn't get the chip anywhere near the temp that Orthos does!

Anything up to 65c I'd be happy with for a stable 24/7 main rig. I would always have some headroom for hot weather.

Core 2 chips begin to throttle at 85C so i try to keep it under this threshold or performance decreases.

Mines up to 3.2ghz stable for 12hours on orthos temp 55-59. 31-34 idle

Mine is usually around 60 but because of the weather 65-70 is ok for me.

65c was my limit for my E6600.

But 75c is nearer my personal limit for my Q6600.

i start to keep an eye on temps when they hit 80°c, i'm fine with anything less...

currently at 36°c idle and 55°c load @ 3.2 @ 1.55v

does 3.8 @ 42°c idle and 62°c load @ 1.8v (bios) 1.7v (true)
