Three or four days is still nothing as it will take you a day to get over the jet lag.
But anyway, I would vote for San Francisco.
I fly about 30 times a year so I've kinda gotten over the jet/travelling lag :p

San Francisco is tempting, but I dunno if it's a bit mainstream for a random adventure? :\

Big variety but if you want a long trip and can cope with it being for a short time I would recommend Beijing. If you want to stay in a city of absolute contrast and see what effectively is the industrial revolution in the modern age along with some historical sites, then it is a sight worth seeing. I am not sure I would make the trip for a short time and have been there for longer stints split over a few years, but it is unique and remarkable, in terms of the contrast of system, the pollution, the size and the sheer representation of what China really is (boulevards a mile wide stuffed with bikes and every branded store in a bizarre adaption of other cultures and the rich wandering round, two streets back markets and people living 10 in a garage).

It's Victorian England in modern times that you can see for yourself.

I've been to quite a few of the other places on the list and there are lots of great..but there is something fascinating about China. It's captivating and slightly horrifying and worth seeing all at once. It's a superpower we won't ever see here in that way again. And the Forbidden City and the palaces and parks are worth seeing too.

I like difference when I travel, the distinction between cultures etc so that's the appeal for me.

My top 3 order would be:

1.Philadelphia simply to see the Phillies play!
2.San Francisco.
3.Hong Kong.

Lots of good picks though....very hard to choose from those.

3-4 days... you would be mad to go anywhere with too bigger time difference. I also fly a lot, but big time differences DO take it out of you.
Maybe Tbsili or Tel Aviv if it is just a few days? Beirut is cool too. None of those are too far away.

Why so far? I've been all over but my heart still yearns for Malcesine, and Verona itself. Only a couple of hours away from London
