Where Should I Put The Fan In This System For Best Airflow

Where should I put the cpu fan in this setup. As you can see it is already pushing air across the heatsink towards the PSU. Would it be better on top of the heatsink pulling air through it towards the PSU?

(Edit) How do I insert the image?

(Edit) Here is the image of cpu fan in position one.

Here's the image of the cpu in fan position two.

Which one do you think will keep my lovely new cpu the coolest. :D

Yes I know, but unfortunatly the heatsink on the motherboard is in the way, enless I could remove that somhow, but for now which do you think I should have it.

best would be to have the heatsink rotated so it fires out the back of the case and the air that hits the heatsink comes from the front of the case. the way you have mounted the heatsink it gets it air from the gfx card so its not really ideal and pushing hot air through the psu again is not ideal either.

its the same problem i was gonna have if i went with the thermalright ultra extreme over the tuniq tower. i wanted it to push air out the back of the case so i went for the tuniq tower.

you may be able to get a rotation bracket for your heatsink but right now its not in an ideal position and having the fan face either way is not gonna be as good as a rear firing position.

The Noctua Heatsink which is installed can be rotated 90 degrees so it is blowing air out the back but the heatsink on the motherboard is stopping this and it is the same story with all the decent heatsinks because I have only got a MATX motherboard and case. So for the moment I can do nothing about that so what should I do in the meantime?

Also would it be possible to replace the heatsink on the board below the cooler with somthing slightly lower profile so that I could rotate it 90 degrees?

Hey Cyber-Mav, your post helped me out a bit. Just have a few questions about this though.

I have a Lian-Li PC7 Plus case, i also have a Artic CoolerFrezzer 7 Pro, (Yeah i know not the best but hey) anyway just wanted to know what would be the best way to do this:

Front Fan blowing cold Air in >>>
Back Fan blowing cold air in >>>
Fan at the top of the case taking the hot air out.

With the situation above would it be better to place the CPU Cooler so the CPU fan is facing the back case fan and then let the top fan take out the hot air

Or

Front Fan blowing cold Air in >>>
Back Fan taking hot air out >>>
Fan at the top of the case taking the hot air out.

Or with this situation where the CPU Heatsink is facing the back case fan and let that take the hot air out?

Which would be the most effective?

Thanks very much. :D :D

Why not try both options and see what best temps you get? Shouldnt be tricky to change between set ups and then you'll know for sure. :D

PK!
