Looking for a new coffee table for the living room

Ideally something solid wood with a drawer or 2 and sub £500

Google keeps bringing up the likes of oak furniture land who seem like a variation on Dfs or similar. Anyone suggest a decent online retailer for the above?

Oak furniture land are OK but you're right they're a dfs type outfit where everything is always on "sale". It is at least reasonable quality stuff and proper wood.

The stuff from next looks OK from a distance but is mostly finished with a veneer and just looks cheap up close despite costing the same as something decent. Argos generally sell poor quality cheap stuff too. Fine for what it is but not if you're looking for something of good quality.

I'd actually be interested in finding out where you do end up going for something, might be looking for a low sideboard

There's an oak furniture land just a couple of mile from me Certainly investigate but the Dfs style permasale is a bit off putting

Its worth a trip to see what you think. Only other place I can think of that is still around is forest furnishings out Scotstoun way - they'll have a smaller selection of tables but likely more variance of wood types than the oak place. Haven't been in years though quality may vary!

There are other furniture places out at birkenshaw if that's where you're going, mostly tat though

oak furniture land, I have done most rooms here, 3 bedrooms and a living room with their stuff,

on my last order, they messed up badly with delivery, and I had to cancel my order, they made a refund, but that would take a few days to show on my card,

so they sent out the complete order (£1000+) without payment, so that I could get it for xmas, and gave me a bedside cabinet for free.

just fantastic customer service in my opinion,

Hit the local, independent (antique) furniture shops for something with character and history? Surely most towns have them? You get to see stuff in the flesh and most of them will deliver.

I can echo others comments regarding Oak Furniture Land.

Bought our Coffee table and TV Unit form them in last few months, excellent service. They rang to arrange delivery, again the night before to confirm and then a text/call on day to say they were 30 mins away.

All solid wood, including drawer bottoms and good quality. Their wax looked overpriced for what it was, I used "Briwax" Beeswax furniture wax and it did the job beautifully.

You can also get cashback via TopCashback, think it was 5% (exc VAT) when we ordered few months back.

+1 for Oakfurnitureland.

I've always wondered how Ikea stuff compares to other flat pack furniture manufacturers, are they any gopd at all?

I'm struggling with the same thing for bookcases. Checking out Pine Solutions, thanks for that.

There is an Oak Furniture Land in town, I only like one of their ranges though.
