I didn't have the locking wheel nut key for the security nut on the alloys. So they had to be drilled/sawed out.

Where is the best place to buy 4 replacement security nuts and the key?

Look on McGard's website for the part number of the correct ones for your car, then just buy them from Amazon or eBay or something.

lol not really, bit of an 80s/90s crime. So unless you have a £3000 set of alloys and live on a rough council estate in Peckham, I probably wouldn't bother either.

This

And if you are in this position, sell the alloys and move out :p

Plus they arn't horrible things, they only become a pain when people use impact guns to remove and refit them.

Thing is, they only inconvenience the owner, not the garage or the thief (neither of who give a **** if they damage the wheel and/or nut in the process).

I'd never bother buying them specifically, if I end up needing a replacement due to wear (or loss) i'll get standard nuts/bolts.

Many places sell them, even your local motor factors will.

Maybe not horrible, but a pointless annoyance when you can buy a tool for removing them without the key for under £30...

As paradigm says, the only person they really slow down is the owner!

No matter what type you get the key is always soft and inevitably ends up being more hassle than it's worth (eother through my own or previous owners missuse) to actually get the things on and off without whacking a socket on and removing

Another vote for don't, a tyre shop recently destroyed the key for my fathers lockers by using an airgun before I could shout "no you plonker..". I have forcibly removed over 10 sets on my own and friends cars for the same reason - but these aren't shifting. Guess its pay up time now!

For the tyre place I hope!

Agree with the majority here, unless you have particularly expensive aftermarket wheels or a "desirable" factory wheel that has a reputation for being stolen due to their attractiveness to owners of lower models then there's no point using locking wheel nuts.

My local garage lost my locking key so tomorrow I'm having them removed and just normal nuts put on there. Damned if I can be bothered with all that hassle again, need my front pads doing.

I do wonder if there are any insurance implications. However nobody is going to steal 18" OEM Civic alloys and if they do, they're welcome to them as they're rather heavy.
