Hey now.

Just started the bathroom renovation and everything is out and the walls back to plaster. Im looking to get some gray quartz for the floor and white for the walls. The best prices ive found so far from local stores are £89 m2 from Tile Giant and £89 m2 from Topps Tiles. It looks to me like they just price match each other, which would make sense.

Is there a trick to tiles like with carpet where they are mainly produced by the same manufactures then named and priced by each individual company?

Does anyone have a prefered supplier of tiles? or any tip and advice to get the best price? after this ive got to do a cloakroom and kitchen so it would be handy to learn a bit more about the tile game.

If there is a local tile showroom that is an "indy" so to speak, then they will be more likely to give you a hefty discount

Thanks for that link ironhorse, they never came up on my search, £49 a meter sq is much more manageable!

It does seem Topps are quite expensive!

I'm laying the tiles on ply for the floor, well I intended to unless there is a better option? I've had to replace the whole floor as the old floorboards had rotted, at the moment it's just bare boards.

We got our Metro tiles from Wickes who were 50% cheaper than most other places I looked. Beat B&Q too. Mind you I think they had an offer on them at the time.

One thing I am a bit worried about is creating a step going into the bathroom, the tiles are 12mm thick. It seems 9mm marine ply is recommended + the thickness of ditra mat if I use it. Extra thick underlay on the landing leading to it might be required. :)

My samples of quartz came from Tile Mountain, the quality seems great but not as much mirror pieces as the ones from Tops and Tile Giant, the search continues
