Okay so I need to get hold of one of these by Wednesday at the latest, which rules out most delivery options.

Anyone got any idea where I could get hold of a battery-powered UV bank checker on the high street?

Cheers

Assuming this is supposed to read "The Electronics Specialist", I already looked on their site and they only have some sort of UV LED kit, not a pre-assembled battery-powered device.

Cheers

EDIT: Just had another look on their site and found a few things that'd work, clearly didn't look hard enough! Cheers

Yeah - they have a basic keylight I think which should do the trick.

There's another decent test - take it from someone who worked behind the counter of a building society for a while.

If you rub the note pretty hard (not rapidly, just a couple of hard pressed strokes) on a piece of white paper, a genuine note will release a little smudge of ink. More often than not, a fake will not.

Cheers for this. I'll be needing to test 50+ notes though, so I figured UV would be a quicker solution!

a lot of fake notes still show UV lights on them, although ive noticed they usually display them in green. Genuine notes come up red and green or if extremely faded then just light red.

Best way to check is the hologram, very hard to fake.

If you know someone who works in a supermarket, see if you can get them to take one from the tills.

Or if you're feeling more honest, ask one of the managers if you can buy one.

You'll never know if you never ask
