When I bought a suit from m+s for about £150, it had and elastic on the waist, which is hidden.
I'm not sure if it's just me but if I buy 32" waist from one manufacturer and another 32" from a different manufacturer then they don't necessarily fit equally well; one feels more tight around the waist.

A pair of Farah trousers from Matalan which I know have elasticated waist so it's easy to bend down in them etc. They are fairly slim fit too and don't cost too much so it's easy to get a couple of pair either the same or different colour etc

OK. Bought some active fit ones
Were quite expensive but I went for tailored fit, flat front.
Unfortunately had to get 36"... I aim to loose 17lbs by Nov to fit into a wedding suit I bought when I was not so fat so these will last a couple months

I have a wide waist but very toned legs.
Turns out the tailored fit is fine. My legs fill them when I tense lol.

It's what you get from doing 13yrs swim training 4 hours per day... then quit and eat all the pies
