Hi all

So amazingly i purchased a new Fractal case, upon plugging in the front USB 3 header it snapped one of the pins on my mother board connector. Investigating this the connector on the Cases front USB header cable has excessive flashing so the pin could not actually fit in the hole.... Thanks fractal. i have had the case in the box about a year unused so i doubt i have any chance to claim this damage from them. However i have pretty good soldering skills so replacing the part on the motherboard is a an easy job for me however i just cannot find the connector for sale anywhere. This is the part im after has anyone got any idea where i can buy one (ideally black) but i guess any colour is better than none :) (UK Seller would be amazing as can find them on ebay but in the states)

Motherboard has many more layers than top and bottom and connector has likely some of the wiring coming in those inner layers.
So removing broken connector and soldering new reliably certainly isn't easy.

Farnell would have one its Europe facilities in UK.
IDC socket seems to be one name for those connectors.

I disagree about internal layers, you wouldn't be able to solder reliably to an internal trace even with a robotic setup. External connectors would have signals surfaced to solder pads.

That said OP, you are aware that USB headers are keyed by having one hole filled right? And one pin not populated in the header. I'm assuming you mean you now have two pins not present :)
