Hello,

Figured I need a run-around car for everytime Im back in the UK (presently have to keep borrowing dads work vans!) and to hire a car for a month is a complete rip off. Noticed on here the other day that someone picked up a Citroen VTR I believe for 500pounds!
So been looking on autotrader and ebay etc but cant find anything real cheap enough. I know I should get down to the local car auction but cant during the week so was just wondering if there was anywhere else recommended looking for these types of cars?

Thanks
Chris

Your probably right and I know you pay for what you get etc
But I think the one on here was a bargain still only something like 25k on the clock.
It is just to be a run-around and Im not expecting anything good - just figured one of these would be a bit more fun than anything else in the price range.

Saxo VTS, 25k miles? Sounds familiar. No where near £500 though :p

Sorry I thought you bought that for 500notes.

I missed out on one last week as a guy at work traded his VTR in (idiot) for 500 pounds - would have given him 510 :p
Run-around to me means something that is minimalist and something your not overly fussed about - must be more of a work term

So why a VTR, the number one hot property for people buying a sub £2k hatch? Why not a 1.1 SX?

What sort of budget are we dealing with here? My local BCA house is always teeming with ex rental corsa's and the like which go for very attractive prices. They would make an ideal cheap runaround.

If you find one of these cheap, it's ruined. Simple as really.

what a load of tosh. mate of mine bought a Saxo VT.. whichever one the 16v is, had had work done to it, was very quick for a saxo, car was very tidy and he didn't pay a lot for it.

By cheap I mean 'at a price thats considerably below its market value'. IE, there is a reason why its cheap - there is no such thing as a free lunch and people don't generally willfully sell cars for lots less than they are worth unless they have a very good reason. Occasionally, that reason will be personal circumstances. Mostly, that reason will be reflected in the condition of the car.
