New Machine specs are as follows - all bought last week.

PSU - 700W Tagan TG700-U25 V2
Mobo - Gigabyte GA 965P-DS3
CPU - Intel Core 2 Duo E6600
Cooler - Artic Cooler Pro 7
Hard Drives (x2) - Western Digital 36GB Raptor
RAM - Geil Ultra DDR2 2.0GB PC6400 - £117.49
Gfx card - Evga 8800 gtx full over clock version
My previous dvd writer that I had in my old machine.

I normally dig around in control panel - find advanced options and turn mic boost on so when I am using teamspeak2 or ventrillo I am not really quiet.

I can't find it with the above setup. They can hear me just! This is normally the case with my old pc - but I would then dig around and find mic boost. Its just NOT THERE and no way of turning it on. Can any of u sound gurus help?

cheers!

In Volume Control look for Mic>Advanced settings and tick Mic 20db box, does the job for me.

My mic is nice and clear as anything in TS but I find the best way for me to test the mic is to record a conversation and play it back and see the results (I was amazed at the results as this is a really old basic microphone) as the local test mode seems to be really awful.

Hi Guys,

I am using the standard onboard sound on my new Gigabyte motherboard.

I think the solution is to SOMEHOW find this mic boost (I have found it every other time I have installed with previous MotherBoards) or to put in a standard soundblaster card that is kicking about at a friends house and try that.

I have the volume of the mic - maxed in the stanard control panel options and just for the LIFE OF ME cannot get axs to the mic boost option with this particular install.

Is mic boost always an option regardless of what motherboard u have? As most of my volume controls on the input side are grey'd out.

Cheers!

If what killer_uk posted doesn't put you in the correct direction, you must have a corrupt install of Windows, or are you using Vista?

When on the volume page ( with the four sliders for volumes ) when I go to options "advanced options" is always grey'd out.

I have had this issue so many time and usually managed to get round it. But no cigar today!

Cheers

Try uninstalling and reinstalling/updating the drivers for the onboard sound. Other than that, I guess it is possible the board doesn't support the function but in 10 years of working on PCs I have never seen it.
