Where to find salvage bikes for a project?

So I have not had a bike for 18 months now and want to get something for a weekend blast this coming summer while giving me something to tinker with between now and then in the garage.

So after seeing some bike rebuild videos on YouTube thought it would be interesting to rebuild something like a R6, GSXR600, CBR600rr class bike but would consider a bigger bike but want something sporty and fuel injection.

I would imagine there would be lots of crashed bikes around but unless lots of people are having the same idea or im just not looking in the right places im coming up short.

Has anyone any advice on where to look for possible bikes to do this with other than Facebook or eBay?

For me, Facebook has been the best hunting ground, bar none. You just have to be quick, as anything cheap is gone in minutes in most cases.

Set up alerts, and check all time time. You will be missing stuff all the time if you are not.

Specific bike groups all know what they are worth, and will grab anything cheap they can find asap, as there is a ready market for spares/parts/accessories. I find that having a van and offering to turn up, pay cash/bank transfer and being available to grab stuff at short notice is the best way to get the cheaper bikes.
