HI,

Can someone advise where to get decent quality ethernet cable? Needs to be 100% copper.
I'm thinking at least 50m and will need mixture of Cat5E for outdoor CCTV and Cat6 for internal LAN.

I had some Pluscom stuff from years ago and looking at it closer now the the cables were never twisted pairs so feel like I been ripped off (eBay) so want to avoid this again.

Thanks.

Any actual data cabling supplier will carry good quality stuff, even places like Screwfix will do in a pinch though you have to be a touch more careful.

Black Box, Mayflex, Mills etc are all options. Don't confuse Euroclass Cca which is a fire rating, with CCA which is copper-clad aluminium and garbage. No good supplier should even be offering CCA cable though.

Hmm yeah none of that helped, black box will only sell 305m which is way to too much, mayflex is trade only, mills 305m also minimum and Screwfix stuff isn't labelled as being external.

I recall something about Cat6 only being good against data loss for something like 35m, whereas Cat6A is preferable for lengths over that...

100m is the accepted figure, but in reality it’s unusual to have single runs that long.

Op, Pluscom is the cheapest nastiest (usually CCA) crap you can buy, you can easily buy decent internal or external grade cable from many of the usual suppliers or online market places, just don’t buy CCA.

You're probably talking about running 10Gbit over copper cabling. For gigabit the total length of Cat6 cable is allowed to be 100m. You will be able to go further with higher quality cable but it's not technically compliant.
