Where to get low profile heatsinks?

Hi,

I currently have 8GB of Corsair Vengeance ram and want to take the heat spreader off and get a new low profile heat sink for it, any idea where I can get these from?

I have seen the thread where it was removed, but when can I get some new ones which are low profile and are they just a quick stick them on kinder job?

Do you even need heat spreaders? They're mostly there for their looks rather than any function.

If they aren't needed then I might just strip them and leave them bare. Thanks for the link, they aren't eye catching however.

My Samsung green barely get warm even at 2000mhz. As someone already said, heatsinks on ddr3 is more a bling thing.

I thought they where there for watercooled systems with little to no air flow just to help disparate the heat

Honestly I don't think anyone on this forum has heard of DDR3 heat damaging or killing RAM. Mostly for looks. My Vengeance RAM running at 1866mhz tuned then touching the heatsinks, they are cold to the touch.

I had some of the Arctic RC ones and took them of my Samsung Greens about a year later after I needed to re-seat my memory. I need some decent thermal tape to put it back on again but never got round to it.

I have corsair 16Gig @1866 blue ram...well it was blue until i took the heat-spreaders off

....didnt seem to make any difference at all
